<What is the most interesting old record you have come across.>

Two reels of Kodachrome motion picture film of Dillon Ripley's Yale-NatGeo sponsored birding expedition into Nepal in 1947, and included footage of the ceremony of the opening of Nepal to the world. Footage includes an incredible scene of several dozen laborers porting a Nazi Mercedes through a mountain pass that is reminiscent of the porting of an opera house in the Amazon in Fitzcarraldo. Ripley documented the trip in a National Geographic spread and in his book, The Search for the Spiny Babbler...a great read full of self-deprecating humor.
