GawdAwfulEarly for something like this. Okay, first off, th evast majority
of your answers are available here:

BUT, I know some people are a bit challenged when it comes to reading and
following directions so I'll answer (as best I can) in the spirit in which
they were asked.

You go to work for Company X

Just because you are EMPLOYED by someone doesn't mean you WORK for them.

If you're employed by them, why would you own a driver? Ok, I'll assume
you meant "YOU are Racer X"

This makes it sound as if YOU ALREADY had an existing LI account. IF
that's the case, your "agreement" on a personal account is the information
is YOURS and YOU are the one who 'owns' what is in there, NOT your
employer. The Agreement says "it belongs to you".

The other option is a "Premium Services" account, that your employer
purchases for you and you use it, but THEY control it.

Now you've REALLY got me confused.. this is a 2 seat racer?

Speed Racer must complete life's journey without his older brother looking

Fine, but I don't see what this has to do with any of the above.

Who owns the content of your Linked in account?

Okay, we're back to this now. See above. "It Depends" (my favorite
answer!) applies. Depends on if it's a personal or a Premium Services
account.

> If Company X owns the content, what is the retention?

If your employer bought a Premium Services account, as long as they are
paying the bill for it, they continue to "control" it (LinikedIn doesn't
talk about "OWNERSHIP") so if they control it and assign it to another
employee (say... Speed Racer) after your unfortunate accident, then the
employer retains control. And they determine how long they want to retain
it... like all companies do with all records.

Esoteric argument... the company determines who is the best driver and who
takes over and drives the car.

In the case of a LinkedIn account, it's based on the 'controlling
party'... private account, privately held info... Premium Services
account, company info... but it's up to you as the person the account is
assigned to to make a determination what level of information about
yourself you put in there.

IF IT WERE ME and my (new) employer said "You have to have a LinkedIn
Account" I'd request they purchase a Premium Services account, and I'd only
put information in it (about myself) that is germane to the position I have
with them. Information you provided them to be considered for the position
you were hired for (like what's in your application or resume) is not
THEIRS, and they can't MAKE YOU include it, because they don't own it.

As for how you segregate (sorry Chris, I REFUSE TO discriminate!)
personal/business records, that depends on policy or regulation. if you
work for a Federal Agency or a Contractor to one, you get your answer in
36CFR, 1222.20 is a good starting place after you've read the definitions
in 1220.
