Over two years on, the UT administration's much-ambitious project of
digitising records is yet to see completion.

Even though a budget of Rs. 3 crore was sanctioned for computerisation and
re-organisation of Estate Office files, the said amount has not been spent
for taking further the project. This year, only 0.1% (`3 lakh) of the total
budget sanctioned has been spent on the work.

It has been more than five years the administration has been claiming that
residents would not have to keep visiting Estate Office and other
departments for property related work as the entire process would be made
online but slow pace of work is delaying the project.

The Chandigarh administration undertook the ambitious project of
digitisation of property records about two years back but it is yet to be
completed.

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of
laissez-faire, unbridled competition.
They have occurred under the guidance of federal agencies, and under the
umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
