Yale University, Connecticut, USA
To: "Archives & Archivists (A&A) List" <[log in to unmask]>

 Records Manager
Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library - New Haven, CT

The Records Manager will establish physical and intellectual control over
the records of the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library (Beinecke), a
fifty-year-old special collections library within a broader academic
library setting. At a time of transition for the organization, which
includes major renovation and relocation of staff and records, the Records
Manager will develop and document an ongoing records management plan for
the Beinecke. After completing an existing preliminary records survey
through overview of physical and electronic records and interviews with
staff, the Records Manager will assign series and functions, and work with
Beinecke management to complete retention and disposition schedules. The
Records Manager will create a work plan for each series and oversee one
staff person in carrying out the necessary work on physical records to
prepare them for off-site shelving, and plan and oversee the transfer of
physical records to University Archives. The Records Manager will work with
Beinecke management and IT staff to develop a plan for long-term management
of electronic records, and will implement this plan at all levels,
including engagement with individual staff members. At the conclusion of
the project, the Records Manager will transition responsibility to Beinecke
staff for carrying out ongoing records management.
