Circuit Judge Robin B. Stilwell, during a court hearing Monday at the
Greenville County Courthouse, said he was ruling on Clemson's motion for a
confidentiality order to set the process for dealing with documents that
either side regards as confidential.

Those documents could be sought during discovery, or the procedure of
exchanging information. Once a request is received, so-called responsive
records must be identified and located for possible release.

Robert Stepp, an attorney representing Clemson, told the judge university
officials have identified about 200 of 20,000 responsive documents on two
disks as confidential.

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of
laissez-faire, unbridled competition.
They have occurred under the guidance of federal agencies, and under the
umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
