One thing we did to eliminate paper in our conflict of interest process was to give the parties involved tablets that they can write notes right on the electronic documents (conflict reports), as well as highlight significant data. It's working very well in addressing exactly the issue you describe, but for a relatively small group, partners and conflicts staff.

Subject: [RM] Attorney Marginalia

In the effort to proceed with "less paper" I'm struggling with how to capture attorney work product when it comes to legal research.  Attorney prints hard copy of case law, makes notes, highlights, etc. on that hard copy, and then we scan that case law with the markups.  Other than attorneys using the edit features in PDF documents, which has been met with resistance, any other ideas?  Thank you.
