Dear Colleagues, Please join me for a discussion on the duty to document for
this weekıs Open Discussion Forum on Transparency and Information Management
presented by Troy Taillefer and Nathan Allan of the Office of the
Information and Privacy Commissioner of British Columbia, Canada.
Troy and Nathan will discuss the British Columbia Information and Privacy
Commissioner's recent work to promote a legislated duty to document of the
provincial government's key actions and decisions. They will also discuss
the importance of a legislated duty to document for government
accountability, as well as where they see this issue headed in B.C. and
across Canada.
Troy Taillefer is a Senior Policy Analyst with the Office of the Information
and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) for British Columbia
<https://www.oipc.bc.ca/> and has worked there for six years. He has been
the lead on numerous OIPC special reports looking at government's responses
to access to information requests. Troy is a graduate of the University of
Victoria Faculty of Law and worked in private practice for four years in
Vancouver and Victoria before moving to the public sector.
Nathan Elliot is a Policy Analyst with the OIPC for British Columbia. Prior
to joining the OIPC, Nathan worked in the privacy and access division of the
B.C. government. Nathan completed his graduate studies at Western
University's Faculty of Information and Media Studies.
