JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is a part-time position that typically hires at $16.56/hour.
Incumbents in this job provide records management services to State agencies
including the identification, description, appraisal, scheduling and
classification of records series and agency records management systems in
accordance with State Archives policies; appraise and evaluate records for
administrative, fiscal, legal, historical and research values; and assist
agency representative in technology including guidelines for reformatting
public records into
microforms and digital formats, assistance to agency records officers and
others regarding all aspects of records management, as well as the
Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA). Creating reference
material and maintaining and updating the state general records retention
schedule. Necessary skills include ability to effectively interact with
state employees assigned records related duties, writing skills, and ability
to perform legal and general research. Must be comfortable working with
databases, websites, and other electronic records information.

Preference may be given to applicants with a degree in Library and
Information Science, Political Science, or History.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

    Coordinates and/or acts as a liaison between agency or work unit and
other agencies, work units, organizations, suppliers, etc.
    Performs descriptive and subject cataloging; consults with state
agencies on problems on cataloging and describing government records.
    Acts as a resource to provide information or determine the most
effective way of meeting the needs of management, staff, clients or customers.
    Provides technical assistance on agency issues, services, program(s),
and/or computer hardware and software, etc.

    principles, theories, and practices of archiving
    deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and
professionalism
    speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand,
information and ideas as presented verbally
    develop and/or implement new policies/procedures/standards and/or
rules/regulations
    laws governing access to public and private records (Government Records
Access and Management Act)
    research methods, techniques, and/or sources of information
    communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing;
read and understand information presented in writing
    principles, theories, and practices of records management
    understand and apply knowledge of database and website management

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

    Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted,
heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips
and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
    Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk
over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately
heavy items (up to 50 lbs) in recurring manner and/or long periods of time.
    Occasional exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., hanta virus) is
possible while working in records storage areas that have been contaminated
by rodent contact. Appropriate materials are provided as needed to minimize
risk.
    Occasional lifting of Records Center boxes.
