But hacking into the database of another team’s front office (which happens
to be led by a general manager who once worked his statistical magic to
make your team a perennial contender) is not that different from stealing
the catcher’s signs when you’re standing on second base. “Corporate
espionage is nothing new,” says Lisa Sotto, head of the global privacy and
cybersecurity practice at Hunton & Williams. “This is just a new medium in
