Glen asked:

How do you know if the re-boxing charges are legit? There is no proof, you have to take their word for it, what do you do?

I say:

Years ago we started getting similar charges with a vendor we no longer use. You need to ask why anything box which is sitting on a shelf and hasn't been requested need to be reboxed? Occasionally a commercial storage vendor needs to shift inventory but if the charges keep occurring you need to find out what is happening.

In our case the vendor was trying to attract a government client and was moving all its other customers boxes out of cave storage to filthy, dark, poorly secured warehouses using contract transportation. Our boxes were shipped from one location to 5 others all over the city and boxes were being dropped and popped routinely by less than conscientious transporters. Then they wanted us to pay for the reboxing. It cost us a lot of hostage fees to pull our entire inventory but it was worth every penny.
