From the beginning this listserve (since the mid 90's) has been pretty
open on discussion topics - both records management and non-records
related. I've been a member since the early days and I think that is
what makes it a great forum. We have to take the bad with the good.
We have some serious discussions. But I beleive it is always great to
bring a little levity especially on Fridays after a challenging week.
Many of the questions Glen asks can be tied to records management in
one form or fashion. They make one think - problem solving so to
speak - which is part of being a professional. And I am amazed at the
creative responses from this group. They force me to look at things
from a difference perspective.
The one thing that Steve forgot to note is that attachments are not
allowed - Gary provided other avenues from which to get them.

Perhaps it’s the message itself or the manner in which it was delivered, but I took umbrage at it as the initiator of the requests. I think there is value in knowing that others have an interest in an issue because it creates a network opportunity for problem solving and sharing. In looking at the archives, these individuals can be identified if they were missed in the post. I was under the impression that it's one the benefits of this incredible community of professionals.

I recommend that the people interested in non-RIM topics establish a private email relationship/routine/ mechanism and keep them off of this incredibly informative RIM List Serv. Those topics won't then dilute the archive or populate the email of others.
