MANAGER

Children's Services , Edmonton - If information is key to business, then finding that information is critical. The Records Management Coordinator, as the Senior Records Officer (SRO) for the Ministry of Children's Services, ensures records are managed in a consistent manner according to legislative requirements and records management regulations, policies, standards and established best practices throughout their life cycle. This role requires you to introduce effective systems and processes to enhance the long-term retention and protection of all records, while providing fast and accurate access, applying appropriate technology and software tools. 

Reporting to the Manager of Information Management, you will provide direction, advice and coordination to business units in the department and Regional Authorities (CFSA) for all matters relating to records and document management. You will establish a strong working relationship with the Alberta Corporate Service Centre staff to develop and realize the plans and goals identified by the department and ensure outcomes are achieved. You will play a key role in the design and deployment of the Ministry Electronic Information Management (EIM) initiative as part of the EIM project team. You will also identify, develop and implement department records training and orientation. 

Knowledge of legislation requirements pertaining to information management and government records management, policies and regulations is key. The ability to lead, plan and priorize diverse activities and demonstrated project management experience is critical. Significant records management experience will provide leadership and influence in strategic and operational records management planning initiatives and issues management. Your ability to clearly express yourself verbally and in writing will contribute to success in this position. 


Qualifications: University degree in a related field and considerable experience in records management. Practical experience with modern document and records management tools and techniques is required. Demonstrated leadership and project management experience is necessary. Well developed computer skills, including use of relevant software is essential. Equivalencies may be considered. 

NOTE: Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening. 

Salary: $48,900 TO $67,476 Closing Date: November 5, 2004.
