I like the term "Retention and Disposition Schedule" as most I've seen, and all that I've developed do both: they identify how long a record series has to be kept, and also how to disposition it once that retention has been met.  I agree with what you said about non-records people misinterpreting a "Disposition Schedule."

Some folks now refer to retention schedules as "File Plans," which is interesting because it is not necessarily a plan for filing records--at least I don't see it that way.  What's funny is that some of the clients I've had who use that term have a variety of filing systems within their organizations, none of which appeared to mirror their schedules.

This reminds me of how people--even records managemetn types, interchange the terms records center, file room, off site storage, and archives.  As a consultant who has been around for awhile, it's been challenging enough for me to hear people use these terms that I've gone back to my handy-dandy RM glossary to make sure I remember the differences between them.
