Position Title:	Records Management Specialist (uncovered position)
Starting Salary:	$37,000 - $45,000/yr, DOE

Job Description Summary:  Records of Arizona state and local government need to be managed pursuant to A.R.S.§41-1345 through 41-1351.  This position assists, consults and trains state and local government agencies on good records management practices.  The primary purpose is to manage the records generated by government so as to maximize the efficiency of the business processes of an agency while providing adequate recorded documentation for administrative, legal, fiscal, research or historical purposes.  The Records Management Division operates a records center for the storage of state agency records on a fee for service basis.  This position supervises the records center technicians in their activities involved with storage and disposition of records.  Evaluate records for retention and disposition purposes, and collaborate with the History and Archives Division with regard to historical appraisal.  Responsibilities include:
1.	Assist in the administration of all aspects of the Arizona gov't records management program.
2.	Oversee the operation of the records storage unit including receipt, maintenance, retrieval and final destruction of stored records.  Supervises a staff of 5+ records center technicians.
3.	Participate on management team committees, work groups, and clusters as assigned by the division director or agency director.
4.	Perform other duties as assigned by the division director or agency director.

Note: This position is uncovered and exempt from ADOA Personnel Rules.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:  Basic and advanced records management practices and procedures, including electronic records management issues.  Information Technology as it relates to records management.  Inactive records storage techniques and records storage procedures.  Supervisory and training techniques.  Management principles and techniques.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Information Science, Information Technology or other field related to Records Management.  Minimum of three (3) years of professional level experience in records management.  Records management experience must include development of retention schedules, conducting records management training and writing records management policy and/or manuals.  Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.  Experience with record center operations software, EDMS and/or RMAs is preferred.  Certified Records Manager is preferred.  Hired individual must:
*	be able to travel throughout the state to deliver services to government entities, 
*	be able to close the records center at 5:00 pm on a regular basis when not on travel, 
*	submit to police background check within 10 working days of starting employment, and
*	MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT 50 POUNDS - Due to this position's lifting requirements, a pre-offer physical is required prior to appointment.
