For a few weeks prior to the gaming exercise, leave various records
laying on the bosses desk with post it notes stuck to them with hand
written notes that say "As my old boss, Ken Lay used to say 'Who needs
these records anyway!' and he used to be head of a large corporation."
This sets the mood. The proper mood is really important in gaming.
(Don't write these notes yourself. Boy I learned that lesson the hard
way.)

Bring in a mock prison cell. Then bring in a actor dressed like one of
those prisoners from the TV episode of Prison Break. The more tattoos
and bushy hair the better. When the executive answers a question
incorrectly, they go in the cell. (Don't tell them it is an actor.)
Then tell them they have to answer a question correctly to get a
parole. That questions should be "Will records management be receiving
their annual 12% raise this month?"

Even if they don't retain much knowledge you get a 12% raise!

This should only be attempted by an outside consultant or records
managers approaching retirement, as sometimes the executives fail to
properly grasp the learning value of these gaming simulations.

Enough of these mock trials, I want to see some mock prison sentences.

If only I was smart enough to be a records managers, I have so many
great ideas that just go to waste. Just for the record, mock
executions should only be attempted by professionals, as the wiring is
really tricky. Just ask my friend Sparky.
