Aimed to strip away jargon and spark action, speaking as a senior exec:

1) X company/organization needs information to be effective and accountable
for the quality of our work. To do that, we all record information on many
kinds of media--paper, photos, CDs, MP3s, on computers--as suitable to the
job at hand.

2) If we didn't record the basis of our decisions and the action we take to
deliver products/services, then we could not learn from mistakes, recognize
successes, or defend ourselves under challenge. So, record keeping is not
"extra work" as I have heard some say--it is DOING the work, RIGHT.

3) You haven't finished the job until it is properly documented, including
the kind of details that help our colleagues in the RIM program manage
recorded information so that you have easy access to the information you
need, when and where you need it. It's a partnership--a critical one.

4) Information assets, our records in whatever form, ground compliance with
government regulations. At the same time, they are the foundation of our
continuous learning efforts. If you are not thinking about recorded
information in this way, then you have some ground to catch up on.

5) All staff are encouraged to suggest how these two concepts (supporting
company compliance and building our knowledge base) can be fit into this
years' performance reviews for all employees.
