Seeking advice!

 

We are an electric utility that produces and updates line books
(electric lines, of course!).

 

I've scoured Skupsky, NARUC, FERC and SEC and have found a good bit on
maps.

(The longest retention being NARUC "Until map is superseded or 6 years
after plant is retired, provided mortality data are retained.")

 

Line books are not necessarily maps, and they could be plant records. I
was wondering if other utilities out there had come up with best
business practice retention for line books. 

 

Of course, the rub is that today these books, are not books, but ever
changing GIS systems (like a web site). So an additional question before
us is do we need to keep a snapshot of our line book after every edit.
(which would roll up into the terabyte numbers very fast!).
