Call for Session Proposals: "Education Outside the Box," Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC), Spring 2008

Deadline: September 1, 2007

The Program Committee for MARAC's Spring 2008 Conference, to be held at the Chautauqua Institution in southwestern New York State, is seeking proposals for conference sessions. The theme for the conference is "Education Outside the Box," in keeping with the role of the Chautauqua Institution as a center for non-traditional education and adult learning. We are looking for sessions focusing on any aspect of education and archives. Session topics can include, but are not limited to:

* Using records to teach (how we educate with records, outreach to schools, community projects)
* New trends in archival education, including continuing education (how we learn about records, how we stay current, staff development programs)
* Training non-archivists (how we educate others about caring for records, working with volunteers, managing interns, mentoring)
* Archives of education programs (university, school, museum, and other archives)

The Program Committee also intends to have a session track that will consist of brainstorming sessions focusing on critical or problematic issues in the profession. Any ideas on possible topics will be greatly appreciated.
