Me, I fall into the &*^#@ category. Our policy says that we will not
accept 3-ring binders or hanging file folders, so if I check a box and
find those, I say "I'm sorry - our policy is not to accept 3-ring
binders or hanging file folders." There may be a bit of grumping
initially, but it doesn't last.
David and I are built from the same cloth. I flatly refuse to accept
binders or hanging folders and yes, at first there was some grumping but
like David said, it didn't last. I do try to soften my refusal a bit
by offering to give the department the expansion folders, as long as the
quantity they need is not excessive.
