Good Afternoon Everyone,

Well, the time has come to announce the arrival of the RMAA Forum! We have
been working on and developed a web based Forum/ Discussion Board for you
all to be able to collaborate ideas, share hints and tips, as well as to
seek advice from other records and information management practitioners.

To enable you to post and view the threads on RMAA Forum you will need to
register as a user. To do this, visit the Forum at
http://forums.rmaa.com.au/ and click the Register button. Nominate your
user name, password and complete the details. An e-mail will be then sent
to our Administrators, who will approve your account registration. Once
approved, you will receive an e-mail back to advise that you can now access
the Forum (if you haven't received this e-mail within 4 days of registering,
please let us know). This forum is for everyone interested in records and
information management - so share your knowledge and get others onboard.

To log into the Forum, go to the above URL and enter your nominated user
name and password. There is a "Remember Me?" option, that (if selected)
will allow a cookie to be set on your PC, which will remember your username
and password for each time you visit and will continue to remember unless
you clear your cookies.

When you first login, please visit the Announcements forum and read the
Welcome message. It will provide you links to the Forum FAQ, which we
encourage you to read!

For those of you who are interested, we've detailed some of the differences
between a listserv and a forum below.

Differences between a listserv and a Forum:

. A listserv is an e-mail based mailing list.

. A Forum is a website composed of a number of member written
threads.

. A listserv automatically delivers the message to all subscribed
users.

. A Forum can require the users to visit the website to view the
threads. For the RMAA User Discussion Forum, we have enabled you to
configure RSS Feeds that allow you to see a summary of posts via an
aggregator and E-mail digests that will notify you via e-mail when a new
post or thread has been added to the Forum.

. A listserv does not allow you to edit or delete a message once it
has been sent.

. A Forum allows users to edit or delete (or request a post be
deleted) their own posts.

. The RMAA Listserv does not provide the ability to e-mail and share
document/ attachments.

. The Forum provides an environment that allows you to post and
share documents/ attachments.

. The RMAA Listserv does not provide a searchable archive/ history.

. The Forum provides a fully searchable archive/ history of all
posts and threads.

Enjoy your new communication environment! Thanks for your patience whilst
we worked through getting it up and running.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards

Kate
