Subject: Re: [RM] Backup Tapes as a Records Series - Question from a Newbie
Couldn't sleep last night and thought about going to a Holiday
Inn...pondering this question. And I have not read everyone's response word
by word.
My 2 cents - I don't think that there is a clear cut answer to this
question. I think you may want to list backups as an item in your IT
schedule, standard, bucket, or whatever you call it. But no matter what,
somewhere someone - you as the R&IM manager or your IT collegues - need to
document how you backup your systems; where you store your backups; and how
long you keep said items. And you or someone needs to keep that
documentation current. Back in the day that was called a procedure.
Something so many of us (me included) forget to do.
I know you are all shocked that I am not perfect :)
All the best!
