RM and IT: Building the Digital Future - RACO West 2007 Conference in
Kansas City

Join us in Kansas City for RACO West 2007, the annual Records
Administration Conference sponsored by the  U.S. National Archives and
Records Administration (NARA).  

When:
Tuesday, September 18, 2007, 8:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.

What:
This one-day conference on government records and information
management issues will provide a professional development opportunity
for records officers, records management professionals, information
managers, and information technology professionals.

This year's conference focuses on RM and IT: Building the Digital
Future.  Speakers will discuss new developments in Federal government
electronic records management in conference sessions like:

Building the Future at NARA
This brief session will feature highlights and updates from U.S.
National Archives programs in Kansas City and around the nation. See
what's new at NARA!

Building Our Digital Future
Federal agency customers and NARA staff will discuss how the
implementation and use of two new electronic systems, the Electronic
Records Archives (ERA) and the Archives and Records Centers Information
System (ARCIS) will benefit the way we all receive, provide access to,
and manage electronic and paper records.

Building Digital Processes
Panelists from two Federal agencies will discuss the record keeping
impacts and considerations of converting their paper records to digital
images and their paper-based processes to digital business processes.

Building the Digital Repository
Federal agency staff discuss their experiences, lessons learned,
benefits, and business reasons for implementing electronic repositories
and electronic recordkeeping.  Attendees will also hear preliminary
findings from NARA's case study on records management applications.

The conference will feature a luncheon address by the co-authors and
researchers of Great Plains Originals, a new book highlighting some of
the many stories and historical treasures to be found in the National
Archives Central Plains Region.  Attendees will also have the option to
tour the National World War I Museum at the Liberty Memorial at the end
of the day.
