Thanks for the responding note regarding AIIM Certificates.  I would
agree with your statement... that...  "In a large organization, one
person won't be doing the ECM, ERM, enterprise search, BPM, CM, and
email; it will be more-or-less dedicated individuals or even groups in
each of those areas.
Cross-training and cross-functional teams are good; having a suite of
education to hit each of those areas in depth sounds to me like a good
thing..." 


However, there are management personnel who have responsibility for ECM,
ERM, BPM, CM, email, IM, etc.  That management layer should have an
opportunity to become certified in the overall area, rather than
attempting to pursue a plethora of certificates on a
technology-by-technology basis....
