...how would you do it?  Knowing what you know now, is there anything
you're currently doing that you'd change, or leave out?  Anything you're
not doing that you'd add?

I'd definitely do what all the textbooks say: perform a records
inventory (including electronic systems) and use that information to
develop the retention schedule.  I'd also develop a controlled
vocabulary/taxonomy as part of the inventory and retention schedule
development.  Coming in and trying to standardize terminology in a large
corporation with a variety of entrenched cultures isn't a lot of fun.
