I have found that what I learned in law school has been very useful in
my position (writing and dissecting contracts; researching and
interpreting laws, regulations, and court decisions; arguing). It has
also been helpful having the initials after my name in dealing with
engineers and lawyers, who greatly value the initials after their names.
I also have a BA in History and a Master of Liberal Arts, but those
degrees did not have the same influence as the JD.
Having said that, if I did not have experience with, and the ability to
learn records management and specifically electronic records management
systems, I never would have been able to do the job.
