In full agreement here... before everyone starts sharpening sticks and
boiling oil to go in search of Fred to string him up and ask him to confess
his sins publicly, I'm sure he didn't do anything but post the position...
and if you don't want it, don't apply for it.
Fred is an upstanding highly qualified source of information in this field
that is well-respected by many practitioners and professionals, and I'm also
sure that NO MATTER WHAT HE DID, he couldn't convince the bureaucracy that
is NYC or NYS to change their posting, hiring, or salary offer practices for
public positions.
Way I see it is they'll get what they're willing to pay for, and sorry to
say there ARE people that would be willing to throw themselves under the
wheels of this train and take this job. And for that, shame on them... but
don't blame Fred.
