Your point is well taken, John, but I have to slightly disagree with you
here. Our vendor makes a dedicated run to our building: they pick up
locked toters from a secure dock and put them in a locked truck; then,
they go straight back to their shredding facility where it is pulped,
baled and sent directly to the mill for recycling. (So, we're being
green, too -- yeah! That's for our neighbor, David McLallen, in
Boulder. lol) Less expensive than doing it on-site (saved 15-30%, I
believe) and it is still a very secure process. Of course, you have to
audit to ensure compliance. Our vendor is NAID-certified, too, which is
one of our requirements.

Cheers,

Subject: Re: [RM] Confidentiality and recycling

When I heard rumors that our building's management was considering
offering a recycling program ...Our goal is first and foremost to
protect the firm's, and our client's confidentially, while being as
green as possible...How are these issues handled elsewhere...?

Key to this is that the shredding is done onsite and many companies will
do this for you.

I can't tell you how often I hear stories where paper has left the
organization where they were picked up and next day the information
which they thought was recycled, is found on the front page of the local
newspaper.
