This thread shows how a simple thing like a definition can prompt many different thoughts and highlights the need for a common vocabulary.
   
  Michael is describing a Records Appraisal - 
  "The process of evaluating records to determine their retention
  based on administrative, legal, and fiscal requirements
  and historical value." ARMA Glossary of Records and Information Management Terms.
   
  An Assessment of the Records Program would include all aspects, including policies; procedures; technology and systems; people, skills and resources; etc... of the Records Program, its effectiveness and deficiencies.
