Good question.

I hit the google and found that it is likely to vary widely depending
upon the exact makeup of the waste product used for the recycled paper.

I found one brand mentioned that stated:

# Made from at least 85% post consumer and at most 15% pre consumer
paper
# Oxygen bleached
# Archival properties of a minimum of 200 years (alkaline paper)
# High purity and bulk with even sheet information
# Guaranteed photocopies with high contrast and resolution
# "Blue Angel" (German standard) certified meeting stringent
environmental criteria, including manufacture from 100% waste paper
previously used or processed

If this is a real concern I would check with the vendor of the paper you
use. If you just tend to buy whatever is on sale then it might be
tougher to keep up with the quality of the recycled product.

I think most copier papers these days are probably not acidic and that
the storage conditions of the docs are likely to have a bigger impact on
the lifespan.

You could always do your own ph testing fairly easily if you tend to
buy whatever is on sale.

Subject: Archival qualities of recycled copier paper?

Does anyone know if recycled copier paper would have a lesser shelf life
than nonrecycled copier paper, when archived under normal conditions?
I've googled and checked the listserv archives, but can't find any
comparisons of this.

Thank you,
