John G. said: Also, I do not like reading multiple pages off a computer
screen. Yes all those sustainable development folks don't jump on me, I
print the document out and read it! I can put my stickies on it, highlight
it, make notes etc.
I think this is part of the boomer generation and what they have grown up
and are accustomed to. As an aside, in this new generation where many
organizations have EDRMS' the same problem exists where many boomer users
are happy, content and desire to continue to use and like paper. So here
I am driving an electronic document and records program, you would think
that my desk would be empty of paper as a good example......NOT!! I fully
understand people who still like working with paper and those who want a
hard copy in front of the fire. That's me as well.
We take baby steps with this in our organization.....and make
accomodations for those who still struggle with this. My answer to them
is some day, this will all be electronic.....and you often get a pained
exprression on their face. Then the comment is, OK, but I'll be retired
by then.
