Hi Lee,
I just got out of a meeting where we were discussing email and shared
drive management. The direction I am guiding our organization into is one
source to manage all records across the organization regardless of the
medium. So that includes shared drives, network drives, email, photographs
etc.. The goal is to identify corporate and transitory records and store
them all into an EDRMS.
Personally, I don't consider Sharepoint a records management system.
Collaboration between our email system and our EDRMS is essential.
Communication, as you well know, is important as well to help users
understand the how's., why's and where's of where you are taking the
organization.
Apart from one source management, I believe it would be somewhat
problematic to manage otherwise.
Good luck on the project.
