I have been asked to put out "feelers" to a few associates in ARMA in 
an effort to gauge... "Are there any published standards or positions 
on the shelf life of various electronic media (CDs, DVDs, tape, optical 
disk, etc.)?"

Considering that our organization is well aware of the perils of 
obsolete technologies to read media are as great, if not a greater risk, 
we are simply looking for established guidelines or standards used by 
other organizations.  These questions are open to practitioner and 
consultant alike, public and private sector, domestic and international.

Of course I feel compelled to disclose that company and individual 
names will remain anonymous... this is more of an exercise in obtaining 
a "pulse" of what other professionals are doing in the profession.  No
