Thank you, Jesse, for bringing the announcement about the public review period for "Implications of Web-Based, Collaborative Technologies in Records Management" to the attention of this listserv, which I should have done already.

The announcement was distributed on July 28 to NISO, SAA, and ANSI, as well as to ARMA staff responsible for developing the monthly InfoPro. InfoPro is scheduled for the third Thursday of each month, so it will go out tomorrow to alert ARMA members en masse. (It was not ready for announcement when the July InfoPro was broadcast in mid-July.)

Certainly, we welcome the comments of this listserv's members about the draft, which can be accessed by clicking on "Documents Available for Public Review" at http://www.arma.org/standards/development/index.cfm. As mentioned below, comments are due by Sept. 20.

By the way, we hear from the project leader, Pat Franks, that the presentation on this draft standard at SAA's conference last week was well-attended and went very well.

Best regards,

Vicki Wiler

Subject: New ARMA draft standard available for review

Hi all,

SAA announced via Twitter
(http://twitter.com/archivists_org/status/21433140122) that BSR/ARMA
18-201X, "Implications of Web-Based, Collaborative Technologies in Records
Management" is available for public review and comment. The comment period
opened August 6(!) and is open through September 20, 2010. The draft
standard can be found at
www.arma.org/standards/development/documents/BSR-ARMA-18-201X
<http://www.arma.org/standards/development/documents/BSR-ARMA-18-201X%20Web%
20Collaborative%20Technologies_draft_for_comments.pdf> Web Collaborative
Technologies_draft_for_comments.pdf.

If this has been posted *anywhere* by ARMA I haven't seen it. I just checked
the website, their Twitter feed, and the Facebook page and didn't see it
announced anywhere. I would be happy to retract this note if someone at ARMA
can provide any evidence of having published this somewhere besides simply
adding it to the Draft Standards page. But right now I am not happy about
learning about this 11 days into the review period and from a completely
different association.
