Not speaking for Patrick but I don't believe the intent of his message was
to say "dont' share"
His point and it would have been mine, too is that when you come to the list
asking for assistance please let us know what you already know. That way we
can provide information relevant to the question being asked.
this is why we ask that people use a sigblock that provides their name and
email address ALONG WITH their location. Many retention questions are asked
and the correct or relevant answer is highly dependent upon one's location.
Why would I provide US retention requirements to someone located up on
Australia? They would be nice but not relevant.
Patrick has been a long long looooooong time member of this list and I think
if you go back through the archives you'll find that he has openly shared
information in the past as have many other individuals on this list
I don't think the attitude on this lest has ever been that of WCFields ie
"go away kid , you're botherin' me" and lord help us if it ever does
update -- got my curmudgeons mixed up it was actually Foghorn Leghorn who
