Please join ARMA NOVA for our October 2010 chapter meeting. Our speaker is
Stephen Levenson, IT Specialist for Policy and Planning for the U.S. Courts
and the Convener for the ISO committee responsible for the PDF/A standard.
Levenson is extremely knowledgeable about the use of standards to address
Records and Information Management challenges, and an outstanding
speaker. He will address this year’s chapter theme of “RIM 2.0, Opportunities
and Challenges” with a presentation about the role of standards in coping with
the deluge of file formats prevalent in the Web 2.0 world.

Managing content from a wide variety of file formats is already a challenge to
the profession today. Future RIM professionals will face even more challenges
as Web 2.0 and 3.0 technologies evolve. What strategies should be adopted
now to be able to preserve this content for future generations? How do
standards and the consumer marketplace play a role in this dilemma? Please
join us as Steve explores these questions and more.

Stephen Levenson is employed by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts
in a policy role working in the Chief Technology Office as an IT Specialist for
Policy and Planning. He has been involved in state, municipal and federal
court systems for the last 38 years, serving in the role of systems design and
management, with a strong connection to records collections, storage,
retrieval and disposal. He is currently the Convener for TC 171 SC2/JWG5,
which is the ISO PDF/A committee, serves on the AIIM Standards and
Education Board, and on the Board of Directors of AIIM. He is active in the
National Capitol Chapter of AIIM, and serves on the Federal Records
Management Council. He is active in his community as President of Central
Springfield Redevelopment (CSPARK), serves on the Land Use Advisory Board,
and is President of his homeowner’s association.
