a hiring record would need to be altered at a later date? I-9 is specific to
employment at the time you hire.

The original post stated:
"Colorado requires an additional form and we are required to keep the copies of
identification cards."
I asked:
"With regard to the retention of a copy of a photo ID or Driver's License,
if it is 'required by Colorado" I'd find out what the retention requirement
is and how the State treats the handling of PII. Also, if a DL or ID
expires and the employee gets a new one, are you required to make sure your
copy is current?"
Never suggested an I-9 would need to be changed, but the original question
didn't state if the additional requirement for the ID/DL in CO was required
as a 'hiring record', or if it may be related to the specific type of work
someone is performing... if the reason is to have something that is a
validated and/or State or Federal issued photo ID, then CO may want to
ensure what's on file is current which is WHY I SUGGESTED
"...find out what the retention requirement is and how the State treats the
handling of PII. Also, if a DL or ID expires and the employee gets a new
one, are you required to make sure your copy is current..."
Next time, I can draw you a picture if you'd prefer Mr. Flynn =)
