Subject: State Records NSW (Australia) to implement digital archives
solution
To: [log in to unmask]

  Dear E-Recs listserv members

Last week State Records NSW (Australia) announced that this year we will
commence the implementation of a digital archives solution capable of
accepting, preserving and making available digital records of the NSW
Government as State archives. This will involve the recruitment of a project
team to work on a three year project to put together the infrastructure,
systems and processes to enable us to accept born digital records of
government for preservation as State archives.

The digital archives infrastructure implemented will complement and
integrate with State Records' existing systems and processes for the
management and use of paper based archival records. It will conform to
international standards and best practice for trusted digital repositories
and will adopt common tools and approaches used by other Australasian
government archives authorities as members of ADRI - the Australasian
Digital Recordkeeping Initiative http://www.adri.gov.au/ .

We plan to keep the archives/records and digital preservation communities up
to date with the project via our Future Proof blog:
http://futureproof.records.nsw.gov.au and Twitter
http://twitter.com/FutureProofNSW and of course on the listservs.

A full statement is on the State Records website here:
