Mary, I have some trouble understanding why audit data - as opposed to rollback data - would have a significant effect on the response time of an industrial-grade ECMS.

Can you offer a little more information about your issue? Specifically,

- How data-rich is this "audit trail" system?

- Does it have its own metadata, separate from the ECMS metadata?

- How much of an impact have you observed?

- Is the impact specific to certain queries (or types of query), or does it affect all functions?

Thanks,

Fred

Subject: Reposting: ECM System Audit Trails

Reposting in the hope that the lack of response to my previous inquiry was
due to my Friday afternoon timing.

I am looking for examples of anyone who has limited the specific properties
that are captured on an ECM system audit trail and/or who has limited the
amount of time properties are retained in the audit trail. The primary
reason to do either of these would be to limit the size of the database
that captures all of this information and not negatively impact the
performance of the system.

Additionally, do you treat the audit trail of documents or non-records
differently than those of records where the content requires retention?

Thank you in advance for your help!
