Susan, you touch on what, in my opinion, is actually the more important
piece - what to delete and what to keep. I'm thinking of a "3 C's" approach
to record copy:

Custodianship - I created and "own" this record;
- or -
Completeness - this is the most complete version of the record available to
the organization
- or -
Context - I need this record to provide complete information for something
of importance to me and my job duties.

Otherwise, its history.
