Todd,
I addition what people responded, I can only add that plastic "getting older" over the time and box sharp corners create safety concerns.

Subject: [RM] Another Question From The CEO...

I got an email from our CEO this morning asking if we should "consider
transferring all the materials from the standard cardboard boxes into plastic
boxes, which would be more resistant to water/infestation."
I have never heard of any wide use of plastic boxes due to the added cost. It
appears plastic boxes run roughly $19/box compared to $1.50-ish for your
standard box.
Assuming your boxes are in a suitable storage facility with industry
recommended shelving, fire suppression and regular pest control, transferring
all contents to plastic boxes seems excessive.
Is anyone using plastic boxes for any or all of their physical records? If so,
please share why you made the switch.
Thanks,
