I just read an interesting article in Texas Monthly. It's about the disappearing historical records located in Counties throughout Texas. I found it to be a very interesting read, especially since for so many years these records have been neglected. It wasn't until I got to see the actual book that Stephen F. Austin recorded his first colony land grants in and got to hold my great-great-great Grandfather's actual Mexican Land Grant, did I really appreciate the significance of making sure these historical documents are preserved. I saw the actual signature of Stephen F. Austin and my Grandfather, not copies, but the his original signature, something we unfortunately are losing with today's electronic age. Oh well, that progress :)
