Even taking precautions can sometimes be difficult.  When flash drives first became popular, I carried one with my presentations and other important info as a backup when I traveled.  On one trip to Trinidad, my flash drive was confiscated as a "lighter" in Miami  and no amount of discussion or explanation on my part could convince the TSA person that it was not. They just did not have time for details or explanations.
