Body of WWII RAF ace finally found - Telegraph

At the time of FO Allen's death France was being overrun by the Germans and
local records detailing the discovery of his body were not as meticulous as
they could have been.

In the aftermath of the war, the Ministry of Defence was swamped with about
40,000 cases of missing airmen and FO Allen's file remained buried in its
archives.
