With the preservation concern in mind, I have been scanning our family
photos at 600x600 color (or B&W, depending on the original) with lots of
bits for the color. The files are big, but the goal is something that lasts
over time. With DVDs you can still get quite a few on one disk. Then I make
a lower resolution version for a visual index.

Subject: Scanning Boxes of Photos at 300 DPI

Does anyone have recommendations for scanning the proverbial boxes of photos
of various sizes?
Final use is not commercial - just for preservation of family photos. I was
asked about it and thought this list may be a good spot to ask.

Thanks,

Mark
