SLA Maryland Chapter Spring Job Search Workshop

Are you having trouble formatting your resume and getting your cover letter to stand out amongst a sea of cover letters submitted to a prospective employer?--Worry no more--Stephanie Callaway and her team of professionals from SPARKS HR, a leading human resources firm in the metro area, will be on hand for presentations and interactive sessions on resume writing and cover letters.  Participants will be given a chance to put their own resumes and cover letters to the test!

Have you ever wondered what your interviewer is looking for when they sit down with you to discuss a potential job opportunity?  A panel of librarians who have had a hand in hiring at their workplaces will also be available to field questions from participants.  What do they look for in a new hire?  What questions do they ask? What should you be prepared for? Get your questions answered!

What does it take to stand out in a crowd of prospective job candidates?--SLA Fellow Chris Olson will also be offering an interactive session on "Personal Branding."  Participants will learn how to create their own brand and then can put these skills to the test-a vital tool in promoting oneself in today's job market.

Feeling photogenic? As an added bonus, professional photographer Helen John will also be on hand at the conclusion of the workshop for participants interested in obtaining a professional headshot for online profiles such as LinkedIn and Facebook (for an additional charge).
