Surveys are funny things, increasingly, the data seems to point to
questions being asked that will garner responses to support desired
conclusions.

First, as always, when a firm selling technology is involved in gathering
input on anything that involves storage of content, they improperly
characterize it as 'archiving'.

Second, they conclude that because more content is being created, it must
be saved... instead of bothering to eliminate that which does not meet the
definition of a record and can be discarded in the normal course of
business.

Lastly, the mixing of data- in this case stating INDIVIDUAL email accounts
will grow by 30% in 3 years, which includes personal and business accounts,
where only the business info would be a likely candidate for the ubiquitous
cloud.

The fact that things may go into the cloud does not mean they have to
remain there and compound on themselves- most business records have finite
retention periods and can regularly be deleted, once retention has been
met. Naturally there will be growth in volume of storage, but it won't be
exponential.

Saxe strikes again?

Survey: Email archiving heads to the clouds
> The data from a recent Info-Tech Research Group survey of the market shows
