< I hope that as we branch off into areas of specialization, that there remains a unified body of knowledge called "records management", "archives", "information governance", etc...and that the concept of a "general practitioner" in records management does not get lost. In my own experience, the greatest strength I have been able to bring to the table is the ability to link different areas of specialization into a unified whole that creates wins for all of the associated stakeholders.>

What a great description of a Certified Records Manager! I've always thought of the CRM as a general practitioner from which specialization could proceed. Somewhat like earning an MD before expanding to a specialized practice.
