California - Public records may cost Lindsay $260K
The most recent development of Steven Mecum’s writ of mandate against the
City of Lindsay was the filing of attorney’s fees. On May 23, Mecum’s
attorney, Paul Boylan, requested a total of $261,286.25 for all of his
hours and costs. City Manager Rich Wilkinson said the amount was a costly
price for the release of 40 pages of documents with unredacted check
numbers and two city staff resumes, but could cause long term financial
harm to the City.
