Here's my 2 . . .

I did it in 4 exam cycles I took two tests each for three ( I failed part 3 once) and then part 6 on the fourth and then I was a brand new baby CRM :)

For me starting out with a study group helped get the rhythm down.  Without the San Antonio  study group I don't think I would have gotten it so fast.  After I moved away, I studied on my own and relied on my experience and common sense and that is what you will really need in part six, that and Earl is right, time management!

Before I spent a lot of money on study materials, I would try to find a good study group or a CRM willing to mentor you.  Try that, and if you fail one, then lay out dough.
