John writes:
" In total I had about 20 cards which I put together (and no I will not share them) and memorized them."

I had to laugh at that. I have a three-ring binder for each test from when I was studying (which was a few years ago now). They are all still in a filing cabinet at home -- locked up with my taxes and other "state" secretes . . . Glad I'm not alone.

The following books are part of "Core Works" and worth purchasing.
These are great books for your library and will assist you in your CRM journey, even after getting your CRM.

Records and Information Management: Fundamentals of Professional Practice, 2nd Ed. by William Saffady, Ph.D.
Managing Electronic Records, 4th Edition, by William Saffady, Ph.D.
Records Management: Making the Transition from Paper to Electronic by David O Stephens, CRM Managing Records and Information Programs by Bruce Dearstyne, Ph.D.
Glossary of Records and Information Management Terms, 3rd Ed.

In addition to these books I found Dr. Mark Langemo's book "Winning Strategies for Successful Records Management Programs" to be an excellent resource. I referred to it when studying for my CRM exams and still do to this day. So much so it is falling apart on me.

Greatest advice I got from my mentor was to put study cards together.
These were a paragraph on the major components of records management...things like active records, inactive records, vital records, retention, classification etc. In total I had about 20 cards which I put together (and no I will not share them) and memorized them.
When it came to writing part 6, and the solution involved one of these, I would easily write my answer.

As I'm not familiar with the study packs, they might be worth the money.
Perhaps different chapters will purchase these and share them with their members?

Good luck,

I'd be interested in hearing from folks that have earned their CRM certification concerning ARMA's recently released study guide packs.
Seems pretty pricey, but would be worth it if these are the appropriate books/tools to study.
